MIR Appraisal Services, Inc.
Read the provider profile · Official website
MIR Appraisal Services is a Chicago firm offering fine-art appraisals from Old Masters through contemporary work. Its official website describes insurance, estate, donation and equitable-distribution assignments, with on-site, office and digital inspection options.
What this provider’s published scope covers
MIR also works with other personal property. This page covers its fine-art services; send a list of the paintings, prints, drawings or sculpture you need assessed so the proposed assignment stays specific.
For a written report, agree on the intended use, type of value, effective date and recipient requirements before research begins. A resale estimate, insurance value and estate valuation answer different questions.
Questions to ask before booking
- Which inspection format will document the front, reverse, labels and condition of this work?
- Does the proposed fee include provenance research and help with an unresolved attribution?
- What type of value and effective date will the report use for my insurance, estate or donation purpose?
Ask MIR which of its published on-site, office or digital options fits the work. If a painting is large, fragile or difficult to move, discuss an on-site visit before transporting it. If you need authentication assistance, agree on that scope separately from valuation.
When a photo-based report may be enough
Appraisily is an online alternative when clear photographs and supporting records are sufficient for the assignment. Check the intended recipient’s requirements first. A local inspection may be needed when condition, attribution or inaccessible details cannot be documented remotely.
